    Chalkboard Ghosts

I’ve seen a lot of things made out of chalkboards, but never chalkboard ghosts! I was at Michaels a few months ago and found these blackboard shapes that were on sale for 80% off. I’m not sure what they were suppose to be, but to me they immediately reminded me of ghosts. I wasn’t completely sure what I was going to do with them, however I figured that they were cute and the price was right so why not buy them? I would decide what to do with them later.

    Christmas In The Dining Room

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As soon as the turkey was polished off, the elves here at the castle got their Christmas decorating on. (There may have been a little shopping going on too…) I have so much to show you that I am going to break it down into several posts for fear of putting you in Christmas decorating overload. What can I say? I love Christmas! I’m starting with Christmas in the dining room. I normally do lots of glam red, white and silver in the dining room, but not this year. I didn’t intend to change it up. It just happened. It all started…

    Tiny Details In My Office

I shared my office with you last week in a really HUGE post. So huge that I couldn’t show you all of the tiny details in my office in one post. So today I get to share those with you! Tiny details always make the piece come together. It’s just like adding jewelry to your favorite outfit. Here is a reminder of how my new/old tv armoire/office looks like. It was done in chalk paint, so it has a beautifully soft patina. The back plates on the doors would NOT come off without some serious damage to the doors, so I left them. I added these modern lucite and brass…

    TV Armoire Becomes an Office

I hate to admit it, but most of my blogging is done from my sofa in front of the TV.( My ADD prevents me from just sitting and watching a TV show – at least that’s my excuse!) If you thought that I have a stylish office that is perfectly decorated where I sit with a big cup of coffee and write, you would be so wrong. I have the office, but it is also my craft room. Nine days out of ten, I have a billion projects going on at one time. It can be one hot mess!  As I get more involved in blogging I realize that I…

    Office Bulletin Board

I have been working on so many things at one time that I haven’t had time to share them with you! It’s my BIRTHDAY WEEK! Yep, when you are a Queen you get a whole week, not just one day!Woo HOO! The hubs took this week off from work so that we could work in the yard, put in a new patio, chop down some trees… One small problem. The weather has been yucky. Today was the first day that it hasn’t rained and let me tell you we were outside working our fingers to the bone! Since it has been rainy- and it is suppose to rain the rest…

    Happy Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras y’all!  I thank God for good friends.  In a former life my Hubs was a banker at a savings and loan. He was sent to Georgia for a banking conference and was fortunate enough to meet one of the best friends of his life, Dennis. Dennis was from the Gulf coast area and was more than happy to share his life and traditions with us. Before Dennis, I – like many others – thought Mardi Gras was a New Orleans, Bourbon Street thing. It is for some, but simply put, for a large majority it is the celebration of the three Wisemen finding the baby Jesus. Now…

How to Make a Magnetic Chalkboard

One of my sweet clients asked me to make a magnetic chalkboard for her children’s playroom.  Woo Hoo!  I love kids stuff!  The Hubs made a trip to our local hardware store and quickly had a frame and hardboard ready for me to paint.  I had made a small one years ago using a magnetic primer with chalkboard paint on top.  I wasn’t too thrilled with the results.  After a little on-line research I was assured that the new and improved magnetic paint was far superior to it’s fore fathers.       I purchased Rustoleum’s Magnetic paint at Lowe’s for around $20.00.  All I can say is –…
