    A Pony For Christmas

Anybody who’s had children has probably heard “I want a pony for Christmas!”. My great niece, Beep, is in love with ponies. In fact, her Grandparents on her Dad’s side bought her a pony recently. She’s crazy about horses. So when a neighbor of mine was moving and had this horse themed table and chairs for sale I couldn’t resist. ( I thought  I had taken a picture of the before, but no. My bad.)  This table is the quintessential DIY project. The base, or horse part, was originally a cigar ashtray.

    Hostess Gifts for the Holidays

I can’t believe the holidays are just around the corner!  With that in mind, I’m trying to stay ahead of the game by getting as many of the little things done as possible. Although, I’m pretty sure I’ll forget something! While at my grocery store today, I found some really cute items that would not only be great gifts, but wonderful hostess gifts for the holidays! So I thought that I would share them with you. Some of the items are a little more expensive, like these reindeer, however most are so reasonable priced you’ll be tempted to buy quite a few of them to gift to your favorite people.

    Painting the Nightstands

A few weeks ago, I shared that I replaced the quilt on my bed. Which led to me buying a new dust ruffle. Unfortunately, the dust ruffle was a little too short. So, I bought a new bed.  At this point, I am sure that you know where I’m going. Now, none of the furniture matches. Which leads me to painting the nightstands! Now before you think that I’ve totally lost my mind by buying a new bed to fit the dust ruffle, you should know that I have been thinking of replacing my bedroom set since I moved into my house 12 years ago. In fact, I bought a…

It’s also the perfect time for Ten on the 10th! I can’t wait to see what Christmas gift ideas my blog friends have this month!

My House is in transition!  You know, when your between decorating seasons, but ready to gear up for another one? Thankfully, Halloween is put away and fall is down to a bare minimum. I’m totally gearing up to get my Christmas on! The fall front porch is staying until the last possible minute to decorate for Christmas. I love the decorative cabbage, the pansies and the sweet faces of the violas!

    The Week That Was

This is the story about the week that was. I certainly hope that it’s over anyway! I hate to complain because all of our issues, for the most part, were first world problems. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all bad. I did have quite a few pick me ups to get me over the less than fun parts for sure!

The Tale of Two Dust Ruffles

Yesterday was definitely a Monday. I had two things to do, just two. Make a quick trip to Lowe’s to get paint to finish up a child’s table and chairs. And plant some plants I purchased on Saturday. Neither of those happened. Instead, my gas cook top blew up. Which leads me to the tale of two dust ruffles. Have I confused you yet? If my BFF Roxanne had been with me, it would definitely been another of our Lucy and Ethel adventures. Unfortunately, this one is all on me!

Things To Do For the Holidays Now

I know that we haven’t even celebrated Halloween, but the big holidays are just around the corner. Yikes! If you are like me, I like to plan ahead of time so that my holidays are a little less stressful. Today I’m sharing a few things to do  for the holidays now. You know, things that will leave you feeling a little more like wonder woman and a little less stressed out!

Bats and Brooms On The Front Porch

I’ve got bats and brooms on the front porch! Well, I’ve got a few other things too. Like pumpkins, cats and spooky lights! I always love decorating for Halloween. It’s such a fun time of the year. For the first time, in a long time, I changed up the front porch decor. Come on in and see!

How To Make A Witch’s Broom

Last week I made the cutest broom parking sign. However, it’s been raining too much to even think of putting it out, until today. With a brief window of time before the next round of rain, I knew it was time to put out this sweet sign. Now that the broom parking sign is hung, all that is missing are a few witch’s brooms to park! Today I’m sharing how to make a witch’s broom. Much to my surprise, making a witch’s broom was super easy and a lot of fun!

    Broom Parking Sign

It’s raining here. Again. Or should I say still. Today was the day to decorate my Halloween front porch, however since it’s so wet I thought my time would be better spent in the craft room. No, I’m not building an arc, although I should probably consider it. Today I’m painting a Broom Parking sign. I had this crazy idea that all of the witches here at the castle might need a designated spot to park their brooms.  Who wants to be constantly be tripping over that mess, right?

Ear Bobs, Gold Lame’ and Go Go Boots

Ear Bobs, Gold Lame’ and Go Go Boots. All three remind me of my Granny. She hated being called Granny, but pulled her big girl pants up and embraced it anyway.  As they say in the south, she was whiskey in a tea cup. So why am I telling you this? Have you ever seen something that not only reminded you of someone, but also made you nostalgic for that person? That happened to me recently and I can’t help but share that story!

    Easy Halloween Place Cards

A few weeks ago, I shared my Halloween Table with you.  I’m always on the look out for fun, inexpensive ways to present my place cards. This year, I found what I think are some really fun and easy Halloween Place cards. They light up and are super easy to make! Oh, and did I mention that it’s also Ten on the 10th? If you are new here, that’s where Ten fun bloggers share fun ideas, under $10.00 on the 10th of the month!

    It’s Been A Bad Week

It’s been a bad week here at the castle.  After a fun filled weekend in Oklahoma, I came home with a bug. The only thing I’ve gotten done is the beginnings of getting the partio spruced up for fall! In all fairness, I started a lot of projects, but none are finished.

    Witchy Halloween Dining Table

When you enter the castle, one of the first things that you see is the dining room. It’s also one of the first places that I start decorating for holidays. Since it’s October, it’s time to set my Halloween table. This year’s theme is a witchy Halloween dining table. There are some constants on my Halloween dining table. The first being a witches hat. Each year I pull out my witch’s hat and give it new ribbons and decor.

    Cute not Creepy

I can’t believe that October is just around the corner. I feel like I just got my pumpkins out and cooler temperatures have barely begun. A few days ago, I pulled out the Halloween decor and started planning where it all would go. All was well, until I got to the kitchen. My pretty little buffalo plaid and orange striped pumpkins make me so happy that the thought of putting them away made me sad. So, I began planning how to keep them. Why couldn’t my kitchen Halloween decor be more fall, less Halloween. Cute not creepy! Don’t worry, I’ll still keep it a wee bit wicked! Here at the…

    Halloween Mantle

It’s officially fall. Finally! I’ve been waiting awhile for it. Here at the castle, we start off with a small amount of fall decor, swing into October with an overload of Halloween, and finally settle in for  a more traditional fall decor for Thanksgiving. Since it’s almost October, I guess it’s time to rip off the band-aid and start the Halloween extravaganza. I’m starting with a simple Halloween Mantle. Over the years, I’ve gone from a heavily decorated mantle to a more simple understated one. I’ve come to believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune or put everything in the Halloween closet on the mantle!  This philosophy could…

    How To Make Damask Pumpkins

I promised that I wouldn’t share any more pumpkins with you this fall. However, I saw some recently and thought “Hey, I could make those”. Then I thought that maybe you would like to make some too.  So today I’m sharing how to make damask pumpkins! These mini pumpkins were super easy to make and are the perfect decoration in my dining room.

    Random Fall Decor

The Queens, my 7 besties, get together and it’s a free for all. Lots of laughing, lots of sharing and lots of talking. Sometimes, one thing leads to another and one of us is compelled to share about something totally unrelated to the current subject. Which is so confusing. We have decided that when this happens we are required to shout “Random” before we introduce that subject. Today I’m shouting Random, because I’m sharing Random fall decor! I shared my fall front porch with you last week. I had originally wanted some white mums for the front porch. However, I couldn’t find them anywhere! Until today.

    My Fall Front Porch

It’s been raining cats and frogs here at the castle. I’m in need of some serious light therapy! Instead of therapy, during a brief respite from the rain, I chose to  clean off the summer front porch and decorate my fall front porch. Recently, one of my favorite bloggers was a little incredulous that there are people who actually use faux pumpkins. I get where she was coming from. I do. However,  those of us who live in the southern states totally get the faux pumpkin craze. It’s still HOT here.

Today I’m sharing with you The Great Pumpkin Part 4. It’s also the last great pumpkin post. Now, I’m not saying that I won’t post more pumpkins. I do seem to have pumpkins on my mind this year. A lot! Today’s great pumpkin is one that anyone can do. In fact, it would be a great craft project for kids and for those scrapbookers that have a ton of paper hoarded on the craft room. Come on, you know that you do. Or is that just me?  Anyway, The Great Pumpkin part 4 is a demo on how to make paper pumpkins!

Early Fall in the Dining Room

Happy September y’all! I hope that you had a fun Labor Day weekend. We had a fun weekend, however you know I fit in a little time to decorate for early fall in the dining room. Well, lets be honest. I found time to sprinkle a little early fall here and there all over the castle! Even though it’s hot here in Texas, September definitely signals fall leaves, pumpkins, mums and hopefully cooler temperatures.

I shared a sneak peek of todays pumpkin with my sister. She said it was pretty, but wanted to know if I obsessed with pumpkins? I had to laugh. I guess she missed the part about my series of sharing how to make the perfect pumpkin for your house. The Great Pumpkin part 3! So without further ado, let me share my latest pumpkin obsession!
